Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to calibrate, adjust and test measuring instruments
- WHS/OHS risk control measures and workplace procedures are followed in preparation for work
- Safety hazards that have not previously been identified are noted and established risk control measures implemented
- Relevant person/s is consulted to ensure work is coordinated effectively with others involved on worksite
- Instrument parameters are identified by reviewing process specifications and manufacturer instructions
- Tools, equipment and testing devices needed for the work are obtained in accordance with workplace procedures and checked for correct operation and safety
- Calibrate, adjust and test measuring instruments
- Calibration testing/measuring arrangement is connected and arranged in accordance with manufacturer instructions and certification requirements for relevant instrument
- Factors effecting instrument error are determined and recorded in the calibration process in accordance with manufacturer specifications and relevant industry standards
- Instrument set-point is determined and error adjustments noted in accordance with manufacturer specifications and relevant industry standards
- Instrument is tested and adjustment made, as required, to ensure instrument meets calibration requirements
- Methods for dealing with unplanned situations are discussed with relevant person/s and documented
- Unplanned situations are dealt with safely and with the approval of relevant person/s
- Quality checks of process output are undertaken to ensure control loop is tuned in accordance with workplace procedures
- Calibration is carried out efficiently without waste of materials or damage to apparatus, the surrounding environment or services using sustainable energy principles
- Complete and report calibration activities
- Worksite is cleaned and made safe in accordance with workplace procedures
- Calibration is documented in accordance with certification requirements and relevant industry standards
